Escaping Mental Bondage

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.
– R.N. Marley

But, how?

It begins by disconnecting the mind from the world of illusion — the world of the five senses – the world where things come, stay, and go.

That would include: gossip & people, news, entertainment, distractive work, and addictive substances, including technology, to name just a few.

We stop feeding these things because they are not real (and, in many cases, are engineered to do us harm).

The world of illusion has no permanent reality. If aspects of it serve your sadhana, then use sparingly — otherwise, it is encouraged and recommended to unplug from all sources that point the mind in the wrong direction, causing us to get lost, confused, and dumbfounded.

Like detoxing from an unhealthy food, once clear — and it could take awhile, up to 6 months or more — tremendous space opens up. Tremendous clarity, and the ability to do what is necessary to complete your emancipation.

We point the mind in the direction of the real — inside, towards the inner awareness, the witnessing consciousness, the you that stays fixed in the now, that never changes — that always is.

In this way, the mind becomes the very useful servant of the Self, offering astute calculations for when the Self has need of them.

The unplugged, emancipated mind naturally fosters periods of golden silence and lapses in activity.

But how natural this is.

As always: take what is useful for your current set of circumstances and human journey, and leave the rest behind.
