Everything is Kind

Today, the Sun enters the constellation of Aries, marking a “new” astrological year — a letting go of an old story, and the beginning of a new one.

For three months, it will ascend through the sky, reach its zenith, and then begin its descent. And on and on it goes like this through the ages.

If they are constantly dancing with one another, where does ascension start? Where does descension end?

For that matter, where do any two pairs of “opposites” end and begin?

That is how the phenomena of our relative world work. Each pole is found in the other — never is there a “fixed” point you can hold onto.

Your mind doesn’t like this. Doesn’t understand it. It wants order. It wants linear. Outcomes it can claim.

Your Heart loves it. Basks in the seeming chaos, and understands that the impermanent nature of everything your eyes see, provides the fertile ground for the evolution of your true, immutable self.

Realizing up is down and down is up — seeing all as essentially the same — we hop off the merry-go-round, the play of drama, and we learn to observe the endless coming and going of the tides with equanimity and dispassion.

We learn to enjoy the journey, and this very moment, as it’s all we really have. What will come, will pass. You can’t hold onto anything.

We learn to love all, and see all as a gift — prasad, handed down by supremely loving hands.

Receive, give away. Give away, receive. Knowing one is not higher or lower than the other. There can never be a higher or lower here. Any two always blends into one.

Be happy now. Be joyful now. Be service now. Why wait?

If dark clouds of sorrow surround — is there not glorious light to be found in them? If you care to look.

Everything and everything is kind.
