Are You Listening?

(A happy, blessed Easter to all those who are observing this Holy Day.)

For as long as we draw breath in this terrestrial and temporal life, we are bound to the play of opposites.

Times of exultation. Times of sorrow. Gain and loss. Progression and regression. The inhalation and exhalation of the breath, is our constant reminder not to attach to any opposing pole — but to see both as serving a common purpose.

The arrows all point to living this moment now. Embracing, fully, our current array of experience and phenomena — the good, the bad, and everything in between. Otherwise, we become attached to a particular thing, which will inevitably change form and pass away, causing distress and suffering to the clinging mind that wants what it wants.

There is nothing that is not Beautiful. There is nothing that is not serving us to evolve in the exact right way needed for the time (especially that which hurts, that which we wish away).

We learn to love what is, as teacher after teacher after teacher has advised down through the ages.

To sit still, unmoved, with a knowing smile in the middle of a hurricane is not only possible, it is the main way we break free of the rotating door of relativity. It only takes practice, born of deep frustration.

Be grateful when happy. Be grateful when sad. Neither will last. Each has come, like a kind of guest, bearing a gift just for you.

Are you listening to what it is?
