Healing is Hard
The deepest, truest healing is defined by waves of varying degrees of discomfort, interspersed between periods of ease, relaxation, and feeling like you are getting somewhere.
It is organized chaos, which can be maddening during times of particular intensity since we tend to find comfort in straightforward paths that follow easy-to-understand rules.
Another word for this type of healing is spirituality or yoga. It asks us to remove, let go, and purge inner possessions of false identities, separation patterns, split off parts of Self, and the beautiful list goes on.
You would never classify this work as easy, except for the fact that it results in what we really want — abiding peace, happiness, and fulfillment. Nothing else will get you there.
When waves of intensity arise, we know it’s time for yet another layer of the unreal to be shed. Thank goodness. Who knows how long it has been obstacle.
You are never handed more than you can handle and as Rumi reminds us, “Pain bears its cure.”
If you turn sideways in to a strong headwind, you will lose balance and get blown over. In such moments, we must be like grass. Lower our center of gravity, be flexible, and let the winds do what they need to do.
They will pass, and we will come out cleaner and ready for the next round.
