I Want
(Just Because book now shipping.)
If the I gets what it wants, it and the you identified with its thinking feels happy.
If the I does not get what it wants, then pain of various sorts is experienced. Think of your own examples.
If you are interested in abiding peace, this trap of thinking, at some point, will be addressed. Rotating through impermanent states of happiness and sadness becomes like a shoe that no longer fits.
Awareness increases and with that, realization.
Instead of wanting, we move into accepting what comes naturally — like the breath, like the breeze, and like waves on an ocean shore. Similarly, we learn to let go of what goes naturally. Having preference for neither and seeing both as gifts.
It is not an easy road to take.
