Wise Up, Rise Up
(Mercury joins the Sun in Cancer. Trust your gut.)
It’s not going to stop
’till you wise up.
- Aimee Mann
The Sun rises, we wake up. The Sun sets, we sleep.
A calendar number increases, creating a feeling we are going somewhere. The next day, the next week, the next year. Seemingly forward movement, and with this the silent hope of change — things improving and getting better.
It’s not outlandish to think and feel this way.
Outlandish is the thought that the “passing of time” will, by consequence, create meaningful change in your life. It doesn’t and no degree of planetary auspiciousness can assist those resigned to life, angry, bound to pain experienced in a past long gone.
It’s a clever muse, such a tack. It gives a cover story for avoiding the work of being human — i.e., being emotionally present, creating art (work from the heart), and receiving the consequences of originality, i.e., being the unvarnished you.
During times of lesser stakes, this author could muster more sympathy for the decision to opt out of being a creator.
During this time, where the fate of our ecosystem is at risk, it is something close to a dereliction of duty to keep one’s head buried in the sand. There is no excuse for it. Ask Mr. Abu-Jamal about keeping hope alive in hopeless circumstances.
Nothing is going to change unless you say so.
You have to take the first step. It doesn’t happen otherwise, except in very rare cases. If you need a cab on a busy New York City street, what do you do? Wait until you get noticed? You might, after a few weeks. What you do is make yourself visible and put your hand in the air. Surely then, if a cabbie is free, you will get a ride.
One day is not fundamentally different than the next. The passing of night, sleep, these give the impression to the mind that something has changed, a new day has been born. Not so. All that’s happening is the Earth revolving around the Sun, over and over again, in a timeless space, which some have called the eternal moment of now.
(Advanced yogis understand this so intimately, some even lose the need for sleep.)
Practically, what this means is that if you want something, you must take steps toward it. Waiting a week or a month for when all the traffic lights are green, could work, but probably won’t. There’s no need to wait, unless you say so with authority and conviction.
Change happens now. Today. Why wait? There is no tomorrow, as typically defined. You improve your circumstances because you command it now. Yes, you are a commander. Nobody taught you that, right? For good reason (because you are).
Start using your power. Even an attempt is worth much. When attempts are made, when genuine moving towards happens, creative support comes from outside. Nature conspires to assist you.
Take on noble goals, friends. Small ones, big ones, crazy ones. Yeshua himself has said, “All these things and more, you shall do.”
What he was, you are. A creator, endowed with universal life force power, and trillions of creative geniuses that make up the fabric of your existence.
Their power can be harnessed for good, for ill, or not at all.
That choice — you guessed it — is yours to make. And there is no right or wrong about it.
What is right is what you know and feel to be true. Then acting on it. Now you have stepped into the arena of life and living. 🙏🏻
