Declare Peace

Warfare is an exacerbated re-action.
Its pathology begins with a thought. Then, a belief in the truth of the thought. Next, anger and hostility arise and, finally, some action to right the wrong and let our feelings be known, i.e., make a statement.
It’s as common as the cold. For millennia, humanity has been at war because of thinking and belief in that thinking based on right-wrong conceptualization.
Rarely do re-actions help. You are merely mirroring whatever it is you think is “wrong.” Who, then, is guilty?
You’d think by now, with all our technological prowess and sophistication, we would have gotten to the bottom of this issue and figured out how to solve disagreements without the need for violence.
Who is triggering you right now?
No doubt somebody is, or some situation. And the urge to hurt back, make things right, runs strong. All you do is hurt yourself and double the trouble.
There are similitarities here to the junk-food-based diet. Toxicity feeds on toxicity, creating a vicious cycle that becomes difficult to reverse, especially after years of investment.
Hope always remains to do just that, though. Change the pattern.
Declare peace. For your own sake, primarily, and also for the sake of an ailing, angry world.
Catch the thought. Replace the sugar with a fresh vegetable. It’s going to be totally unpalatable at first, but there is no other way around it.
Is this thought I’m believing really true? Is this other person really x, y, and z? Can I find these things in myself?
Stop. Sit. Close your eyes and breathe through the hostile emotions that are arising, which some have called frying the mustard seed.
Get calm.
And if something needs to be said, you can now do so without the edge of a re-action. New doors can open to peaceful resolution without that warlike edge.
Nobody in their heart of hearts wants to cause pain. People do so because they are in pain and are looking for help. It takes a keen pair of eyes to see through this strategy.
Declare peace. Each and every day.
We don’t have to wait for it to come. It’s here now.
Peace is within you. And starts with you. 🙏🏻
