Dissolve into Truth
(Above: Happy Libra season! Venus enters Scorpio. Mercury enters Libra.)
Anxiety is freedom’s possibility.
— Søren Kierkegaard
Anxiety or worry is imagined fear of what is to come. It is fundamentally different than what you feel when approached by a grizzly bear or seeing the dorsal fin of a shark swimming nearby.
Those who do not experience anxiety are on opposite sides of the spectrum. Either they are steeped in truth or blind to it. Free or still yet bound.
The presence of anxiety in your life is not ipso facto a bad thing. In chronic cases where it becomes debilitating, professional help is recommended; still, there is some kernel of possibility to be found.
Sensitivity comes with anxiety. Again, that’s not a bad thing. It means you care. You might look at the world around you and see injustice, corruption, rampant ignorance, and a world teetering on the edge of disaster. And you would not be wrong, and it is certainly not wrong to feel anxiety about these things.
The issue is that we can get stuck in an anxious state and not realize its benefits. It is more like a signpost or guide than anything nefarious that needs to be pushed away.
Anxiety is pointing you to the Truth.
Being at ease — truly at ease — means there is a free flow between experience from the outside and what you are and feel on the inside.
If you hold your hands up and say, “I don’t want this. Get me out of here,” you will experience anxiety. Until you don’t.
When you start to understand the perfection of the moment and that everything is conspiring to assist the fulfillment of your heart’s deepest wish, your arms open, even to unpleasant experiences.
Likewise, if you stifle your creativity, authentic voice, and feelings, you will also experience anxiety, just as you experience pain by touching a hot stove. It’s letting you know you’re in danger.
Feel the anxiety and know it is not you. It does not need to control or define your choices. Its presence can make you say, “Oh, this is an opportunity for me to open up a little more — either to others or myself.”
The anxious state will not stop until you do. You are in co-existence with it. It is a teacher.
It begins to dissolve when you do. 🙏🏻
