In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy got lost in an unknown world and went on an adventure to get back home.

On that journey, she met friends and foes, and leaned on a wizard-guru for the directions who turned out to be a fake.

In the end, she had the very thing she needed to get home — the silver slippers. She just didn’t know it.

That is the arc of the spiritual journey, or what happens when you turn towards your heart and its longing for the truth.

You’ve got to take the journey. It has ups, downs, twists, turns, friends, foes, danger, delusion, despair — and exultation. You’ve got to keep going. That’s all Dorothy really did with a resolute intent to find her way back to her Aunty Em.

If it’s hard. Keep going.

If you’re not finding. Keep going.

One day, the answer will come and as we well understand, is already here. We just don’t know it yet or we don’t trust it.

Even that is a part of the journey.

We’re all in the same boat trying to find our way home. This situation beckons for kindness to others and kindness to ourselves.

You will get there but, first, your edges need to be filed down.

That’s what the journey is for. And that is either good news or bad news, depending on what kind of day you’re having.
